June 2025 Auto Sales Data: Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, TVS, Mahindra See Market Share Shifts Across 2W, PV, and CV Segments

India’s automotive industry presented a dynamic performance in June 2025, with notable shifts in market shares across the two-wheeler, commercial vehicle, and passenger vehicle segments. The data released by FADA Research offers crucial insights into how different OEMs performed compared to June 2024, reflecting evolving consumer preferences, product strategies, and competition levels.

Two-Wheeler Segment: Mixed Performance Across Leaders

The two-wheeler segment saw overall retail volumes reach 14,46,387 units in June 2025, marking a significant rise from 13,81,040 units in June 2024. However, this volume growth did not necessarily translate to market share gains for all major players.

Hero MotoCorp maintained its leadership in volumes with 3,93,832 units but saw its market share dip to 27.23% from 28.79% last year. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India sold 3,55,295 units, slightly up from 3,52,502, yet its market share fell to 24.56% from 25.52%.

TVS Motor Company witnessed a notable surge in both sales and share, with volumes increasing to 2,82,309 units from 2,36,947 a year ago. Consequently, its market share rose to 19.52% from 17.16%. Bajaj Auto Group reported stable numbers with 1,56,360 units sold, maintaining a market share of 10.81%, nearly unchanged from last year’s 11.14%.

Suzuki Motorcycle India saw an uptick in market share to 5.90% with 85,309 units sold, up from 73,481 units (5.32%). Royal Enfield also recorded a rise in market share to 4.88%, with volumes climbing to 70,640 units from 56,463.

India Yamaha Motor registered a slight decline in market share to 3.37% from 3.64%, with sales falling to 48,690 from 50,286 units. Electric two-wheeler makers presented contrasting outcomes. Ola Electric’s share more than halved to 1.40% from 2.67% year-on-year, while Ather Energy grew significantly with 14,526 units sold, nearly doubling its market share to 1.00% from 0.45%.

Other electric vehicle players like Greaves (0.29%), BGauss (0.13%), and Classic Legends (0.13%) showed small but steady contributions, while the total category of ‘Others Including EVs’ rose slightly in volume from 8,162 to 8,923 units.

Commercial Vehicle Segment: Volume Gains But Share Realignment

The commercial vehicle segment registered total sales of 73,367 units in June 2025, up from 68,825 in June 2024. Tata Motors led the pack with 24,436 units but saw its market share fall sharply to 33.31% from 37.82%. Mahindra & Mahindra followed with 19,683 units and improved its market share to 26.83% from 25.33%, driven mainly by the performance of its mainline CV business.

Ashok Leyland delivered 13,049 units, up from 11,399 last year, gaining market share to 17.79% from 16.56%. VE Commercial Vehicles grew to 6,901 units from 5,943, resulting in a rise in share to 9.41%. Maruti Suzuki India also gained traction in the segment, selling 3,296 units and achieving a 4.49% market share, up from 4.20%.

Force Motors reported 2,036 units, improving its share to 2.78%. Daimler India and SML Isuzu posted minor increases, holding market shares of 2.24% and 2.23%, respectively. The 'Others' category showed volume growth, reflecting an increased presence of small and niche players.

Passenger Vehicle Segment: Consistent Leaders, Fragmenting Shares

The passenger vehicle market remained robust, with total retail volumes of 2,97,722 units in June 2025, up slightly from 2,90,593 units in June 2024. Maruti Suzuki retained its dominance with 1,16,544 units sold, a marginal increase from 1,15,919 units, translating into a market share of 39.15%.

Mahindra & Mahindra continued its strong run, selling 40,919 units compared to 36,741 units last June, with its market share rising to 13.74%. Hyundai Motor India posted 38,306 units, though its market share dipped slightly to 12.87% from 13.49%.

Tata Motors saw a slight decline in market share to 11.73%, despite selling 34,930 units. Toyota Kirloskar improved with 22,543 units and 7.57% share, while Kia India also advanced to 6.05% with 18,005 units sold.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen Group expanded its market presence, growing from 5,705 to 7,661 units, with a share increase to 2.57%. JSW MG Motor India rose to 4,954 units from 3,841, while Honda Cars saw a small dip to 3,859 units.

Renault India, Mercedes-Benz, and Nissan Motor showed mixed results. Mercedes-Benz sold 1,390 units with a market share of 0.47%, and BMW India sold 1,202 units, slightly up from 1,058 last year. Force Motors, Jaguar Land Rover, BYD India, and others made marginal contributions but continued to hold relevance in niche segments.

The June 2025 auto retail data illustrates a market that is growing in absolute terms but undergoing constant realignment in market shares. While some OEMs like TVS Motor, Mahindra & Mahindra, and Suzuki Motor have successfully expanded their footprint, others like Ola Electric, Tata Motors (CV), and Hyundai Motor India are witnessing a decline in share despite stable or growing volumes. Electric mobility continues to gain momentum in selective pockets, while traditional OEMs face rising competition in an evolving landscape.
