Canadians Cancel U.S. Trips Amid Political Shakeup

In a stunning turn of events, Canadians are canceling their travel plans to the United States in large numbers, according to a report released today by CNBC.

The mass cancellations come in response to political turbulence following U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent announcement of a controversial plan to make Canada the 51st state of the United States — a move that has been widely condemned across Canada as an affront to national sovereignty.

Newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wasted no time in shutting down the proposal.

“The sovereignty of Canada is not up for negotiation,” Carney said in a firm press statement. “We value our friendship with the United States, but Canada is not for sale, annexation, or absorption.”

The reaction among Canadians was swift. Social media erupted with hashtags like #StandWithCarney, #CanadaIsCanada, and #NoTo51stState. Travel agencies nationwide report a major decline in U.S.-bound bookings.

“We’ve seen a 40% drop in bookings to the U.S. in the past 72 hours,” said Linda Cho, a travel agent in Vancouver. “People are angry, shocked, and not willing to spend their money across the border right now.”

While the White House has yet to release an official follow-up, insiders suggest the Trump administration is “surprised” by the backlash and “reassessing its tone.”

With tensions rising, all eyes are on the Carney administration as Canada signals it will not back down from defending its independence.
